Bocce Rules
1. Each team has 4 members.
2. 2 members from each team stand at opposite ends of the court.
3. Toss a coin to determine who throws first or chooses ball color.
4. The first person tosses the pallina underhand. Pallina must cross the centerline to be considered a legal throw. You will have three chances to get a legal throw before your opponent gets one chance to toss the pallina. If the pallina does not cross the centerline, it will be placed half of the way down the court in the center. The first team always gets to throw the first ball.
5. Second team then tosses their first ball.
6. The team that is farthest away from the pallina throws their second ball by the next member of the team. Play is alternated by the team who is farthest from the pallina, and rotating throws between the two players of the team.
7. After four balls are thrown on one end of the court, the score is calculated.
8. The team with the ball closest to the pallina earns a point for each ball that is closer than the first opposing ball. There is a possibility of 4 points in each frame.
9. After the score is calculated, then members at the other end play a frame.
10. Play continues until one team reaches 11 points or the 20 minute time limit.
11. If the pallina is knocked out of the court, the frame is dead and play goes to the other end. No points are tallied.
12. If a team rolls a bocce ball out of play, that ball is dead. Another ball of the same color is thrown by the other team member.
13. Winning team must bring final score to the scorer’s table. Your next playing time will be available at the scorer’s table.
14. Don't worry there will be a demonstration before Bocce play begins at Bocce Y Bella Sera!
Good Luck!
